Overview
A+ WORKS of ART and Omnispace presents Wiyoga Muhardanto's solo exhibition: “Api yang Menyambar-nyambar" (The Blazing Fire).
This exhibition marks Wiyoga Muhardanto’s third solo exhibition in Bandung. In exploring the theme of social mobility, Wiyoga discovered how friends and their associations could influence the movement of one’s social strata. He was interested in this dynamic relationship within circles of friends or family, one that has the potential to bring people closer or force them to ignore each other entirely.
In this installation at Omnispace, Wiyoga seeks to address how the people closest to us can direct ideological, political, and trivial choices.
The exhibition's title, "Api yang Menyambar-nyambar" (The Blazing Fire), was inspired by the words of late Islamic cleric Sufyan Ats Tsauri, who said, "This heart is weak while doubts lurk." This title reflects the need for us to be cautious and vigilant when socialising in order to avoid a circle of friendship that can be as dangerous as a hot fire.
