In business, the presence of competitors is a familiar thing. The presence of competitors will certainly make business competition fiercer to get customer attention. The work I produced and presented specifically at this art fair event will focus on competitions in the contemporary art industry. "Perlombaan yang Melelahkan" is an art fair booth miniature from a Malaysia-based fictional gallery - Zuhud Contemporary. Since this work will be displayed in the A+ Works of Art booth, I tried to represent the idea of "competitors" through similarities: country of origin, works displayed, and other characteristics. This work suggests an act of social climbing through the miniature booth layout at the front of the A+ Works of Art booth. At the art fair event, all participating galleries compete to attract the attention of potential buyers or collectors to purchase the works on display, both for the sake of the sustainability and existence of a gallery. With various strategies, quite a few slippages result in unhealthy competition in the art fair event. This 1/12 scale miniature work consists of fictional works (paintings, sculptures, videos), scale models of furniture, catalogues and personal equipment owned by the gallerists.
