A+ Works of Art is pleased to present No Vacancy, curated by Aminah Ibrahim.
No Vacancy runs from the 4th to 7th of November at Element Hotel Kuala Lumpur and is presented in conjunction with CIMB Artober 2021, Hotel Art Fair.
This exhibition explores themes of memory, subjectivity, escape, capacity and hospitality, from the by-gone era till the present day.
The curatorial conceit for No Vacancy is to place works in dialogue with the hotel room as a space for art, hopefully generating conversations about the varying degrees of our capacities, or lack thereof, in a time of pandemic.
The exhibition features work from 34 artists:
Agus Suwage, Ahmad Fuad Osman, Alwin Reamillo, Andy Warhol, Chan Kok Hooi, Chang Fee Ming, Chang Yoong Chia, Fariza Azlina Isahak a.k.a Fizzi, Isola Tong, Izat Arif, Jenny Holzer, Joseph Beuys, Kentaro Hiroki, Lee Wen, Leni Riefenstahl, Liew Kung Yu, Luke Heng, Mary Pakinee, Mao Zedong, Mella Jaarsma, Mit Jai Inn, Nadiah Bamadhaj, Pablo Picasso, Ray Langenbach, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Susie Lingham, Tan Zi Hao, Trương Quế Chi, Unchalee Anantawat, Vincent Leow, Wiyoga Muhardanto, Yee I-Lann, Yim Yen Sum, Zakwan Jamil.
